Me & Cycle syncing

How Cycle Syncing Helped Me Reclaim My Energy and Sanity

For the longest time, I felt like I was being hijacked by my body every month.

The week before my period? A minefield.
The cramps? Intense, sometimes debilitating.
My energy? Nonexistent.
Anxiety? Through the roof.

I used to dread the luteal and menstrual phases because I knew they would come with brain fog, mood swings, and this sense of being completely drained. I’d try to push through workouts, eat “clean,” and carry on as normal—but it never worked. I just ended up feeling worse.

Then I discovered cycle syncing, and it completely changed how I live, train, eat, and care for myself.

Luteal Phase: From Breakdown to Balance

This used to be my hardest phase—when PMS would hit me hardest. I’d feel overwhelmed by the smallest things, super irritable, and mentally exhausted. The turning point was when I started honouring what my body was actually asking for.

What helped me:

  • I swapped intense cardio for slower strength training and mobility work.

  • I started incorporating magnesium-rich foods (like dark chocolate and spinach) and calming herbal teas like dandelion root and chasteberry.

  • I got intentional with emotional boundaries and stopped overcommitting during this phase.

This shift helped me reduce the severity of my PMS and feel more emotionally steady.

Menstrual Phase: Rest Without Guilt

Before, I’d try to force myself through life like nothing was happening, even though I was bloated, in pain, and exhausted. Now, I treat my period like a monthly reset.

What I do differently:

  • I plan for slower days during this phase: gentle walks, stretching, long baths.

  • I nourish myself with iron-rich, warming meals like lentil stews and roasted veggies.

  • I drink raspberry leaf and ginger tea to ease cramps and inflammation.

  • I no longer see rest as weakness—it’s strategy.

The result? Fewer cramps, more emotional clarity, and a genuine sense of peace during my bleed.

Follicular + Ovulatory Phases: Building Momentum

These are the phases where I rebuild. My energy starts climbing again, my mood stabilizes, and I feel inspired. Instead of just riding the high, I now plan for it—creatively and physically.

How I use this time:

  • I train harder: strength circuits, dumbbell training, and creative movement.

  • I eat fresh, colorful foods to support my rising estrogen.

  • I create and plan content, batch tasks, and connect with others—this is when I feel most social and magnetic.

Cycle syncing gave me permission to go hard when it makes sense—and pull back when it doesn't.

Living in Sync Changed Everything

Cycle syncing has become more than a wellness trend for me—it’s a lifeline. By aligning my workouts, meals, tea rituals, and self-care with my hormones, I’ve finally started working with my body instead of constantly pushing against it.

I’ve gone from dreading my cycle to honouring it.
From burnt out and anxious to in tune and empowered.

If you’ve been struggling with PMS, low energy, or painful periods, I can’t recommend cycle syncing enough. It’s not about being perfect—it's about learning to listen, respond, and support your body with compassion.
